If you look at old maps there were at least three ponds on our farm once upon a time. Now there are none. I'm not sure what the rationale was to take them out. But I'm sure there was a government incentive somewhere along the line.
One day we'll have the time and energy to remove the trees which have sprung up where the ponds once were. But for now a handy little blockage has kept the water in one of the old pond sites this year.
We are not the only ones to have noticed. There are a huge number of tadpoles calling it home.
